Software Mirror

Fast, local package mirrors hosted by Quad State Internet at Paducah IX. Get lower latency and higher reliability for system updates and installs. Served over IPv4/IPv6. Free to use.

What this is

A local cache of open‑source software repositories. Using a nearby mirror shortens the path your updates take, which reduces timeouts and speeds up apt update and apt upgrade.

Who can use it

Anyone on the public Internet. Connected networks at Paducah IX will typically see the lowest latency and highest throughput.

Why it’s fast

Hosted on high‑capacity infrastructure with regional peering. Traffic stays local when possible, improving reliability during upstream congestion events.

Availability

Designed for 24/7 service and monitored by Quad State Internet. If you notice issues, open a ticket with service@quadstateinternet.net.

How to Use This Mirror on Debian

To point your Debian system at mirror.quadstate.us, edit your sources list. Best practice is to create a dedicated file under /etc/apt/sources.list.d so changes are easier to maintain.

Steps:

  1. Backup your current sources:
    sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.backup
  2. Create a new sources file:
    sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/quadstate-mirror.list
  3. Add the following line (example for Debian Bookworm):
    deb http://mirror.quadstate.us/debian bookworm main contrib non-free non-free-firmware
  4. Save and exit (Ctrl+O, Ctrl+X in nano).
  5. Update package lists:
    sudo apt update

Tip: Keep the official Debian mirrors in your backup list in case you need to revert or if our mirror is temporarily unavailable.
